Patient Liaison | Medical Assistant
Ashley Ortiz is a dedicated member of our nursing team at the Community Cancer Center, bringing compassion and expertise to her role since August 2014. Born and raised in Douglas County, Ashley’s journey in patient care began with a deeply personal experience. In 2003, her mother’s battle with Breast Cancer ignited Ashley’s passion for healthcare. She continued to support her family through another cancer diagnosis in 2006, which further solidified her commitment to oncology care.
Ashley’s caregiving journey expanded as she assisted her grandfather during his struggle with lung cancer, providing essential support and meeting his personal needs at home. Inspired by her experiences and guided by her grandfather’s wisdom, Ashley pursued a career in healthcare. She initially worked in an Assisted Living Facility before deciding to formalize her education by completing the Medical Assistant Program at Umpqua Community College (UCC).
Joining the Community Cancer Center as a Nationally Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NCCMA), Ashley quickly became known for her warm demeanor and dedication to patient well-being. She transitioned seamlessly into a her role with the nursing team, where she continues to provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families. Ashley is often found at the nursing station, offering comfort, insight into diagnoses, and a listening ear for concerns.
In 2022, Ashley’s commitment and leadership within CCC were recognized when she assumed the role of Patient Liaison and began supervising within her department. Her expertise and passion for exceptional patient care shine through in her daily interactions and her support for colleagues.
Outside of work, Ashley finds joy in spending time outdoors with her husband, son, extended family, friends, and her dog Lucy. She thrives on adventures and is always seeking new experiences to enrich her life. Ashley believes deeply in the importance of quality time with loved ones, cherishing the community and the natural beauty of her home in Douglas County.
Looking ahead, Ashley envisions her next adventure possibly involving buying a home in the country and expanding her wonderful family. Her unwavering dedication to her community and her passion for making a difference in the lives of others make Ashley Ortiz an invaluable member of the Community Cancer Center team. Her belief in the power of love and connection defines her approach to both life and patient care.
