Tom Nelson is a lifelong Roseburg native with deep roots in the community he continues to serve. He was born and raised in Roseburg and is a graduate of Roseburg High School, Class of 1970. After four years attending Oregon State University, Tom earned his degree in 1975 and returned home to Roseburg, where he has lived ever since.

Tom has been married for 40 years to his wife, Jo Anne, who is also a Roseburg native and a graduate of both Roseburg High School and Oregon State University. Together, they have three children and are proud grandparents.

A strong believer in giving back, Tom has been actively involved with the Roseburg Community Cancer Center since 2014. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer, is a member of the Executive Committee, and serves on both the Fundraising and Investment Committees. In addition to his leadership roles, Tom is “Champion of Hope” as an individual donor to the Community Cancer Foundation, supporting its mission to provide high‑quality, compassionate cancer care close to home.

Tom’s commitment to education and youth is reflected through his service as a Board Member of the Roseburg High School Foundation, where he supports scholarships and educational opportunities for local students. He has also served the broader community as a community member of the Roseburg Public Schools Budget Committee, contributing to financial oversight and long‑term planning for the district.

As an alumnus of Oregon State University, Tom remains a dedicated supporter of his alma mater. He is publicly recognized as a financial supporter of Oregon State University, including participation in alumni donor recognition programs, reflecting his ongoing commitment to higher education and student opportunity.

Through sustained leadership, philanthropy, and service, Tom Nelson exemplifies a lifelong commitment to the Roseburg community and to the organizations that strengthen and support it.
